About This Product

Akira the Goblin Cosplay Contact Lenses

Big golden eyes on a small blue goblin. That is the character in one line. Shoulder-length light brown hair under a white cap, a blue apron work outfit, and those eyes carrying the whole silhouette. I have built small characters before, and the eyes decide whether the face reads as the character or just a person in a costume. This pair gave me the look in the first minute.

The pale centre inside the amber rim

The build starts in the middle. A pale yellow inner ring sits around the pupil, then the tone deepens into a rich amber outer rim. That pale centre gives the golden iris a warm, lit glow, and the amber rim gives the glow a place to settle. The centre stays open enough for your own pupil to show through, so the gold reads as an eye with depth. The pupil ring is soft, which keeps the expression alive in a small face. This lens uses a pale yellow centre ring inside a deep amber outer rim. It reads as two tones working together, and the pale centre holds its glow in indoor light. I wondered if a centre that pale would read in person. It does.

Pigment depth, fibre and the outer blend

The pigment is dense enough to hold its golden yellow identity in daylight and in flat indoor light, and fine enough that the iris fibre still shows. Soft radial strands run from the centre outward, tight near the pupil and looser toward the rim, so the iris has grain and depth. The outer edge feathers into the lash line, which lets the amber rim finish on your own face. Both lenses in a pair are matched for inner-ring height and pigment density, so the pale centre lands level on each side. That match keeps the two eyes reading as one face.

Comfort that holds through a build day

First insert felt like nothing. The lid stayed calm, and the corners stayed comfortable. I wore them through a wig fitting, apron ties, a long stand-around and a bag check, and only remembered them at the end. Blink a few times before you judge the fit; the edge settles as the lens warms. If this is your first pair, practise the insert the night before. The long-wear feel stays easy, which matters when the character is small and the day is long.

On camera and in photos

The two-tone build holds on camera. A single flash still shows the pale centre and the amber rim as separate tones.

The review we hear most

"I have built a lot of small characters, and the eyes are the whole effect. These gave me the lit-from-the-middle look I kept chasing with single-colour gold. My editor pulled the file up and went quiet, which from him is a full paragraph. Two events in, nothing dry, nothing scratchy."
